For this week’s episode of Geekorama, we’re talking about two very different spooky Superhero stories that you can treat yourself to this October: Brightburn and Haunted Heroine by Sarah Kuhn.

Pop-Culture Trivia – Bela Lugosi-Horror Movie Icon

Born on October 20th, 1882,  Eighty-five years after he first donned a vampire’s cape, Lugosi’s take on Count Dracula is still widely hailed as the definitive portrayal of the legendary fiend. Lugosi died of a heart attack on August 16, 1956;  he was 73 years old. Although Lugosi resented the years of typecasting that followed his breakout performance in Dracula, he asked to be laid to rest wearing the Count’s signature garment.

GEEK OUTS

Trish – Animal Crossing New Horizons! Yes I am woefully late to the party on this one but let me just say that after three weeks of playing this, I TOTALLY get now why this is the game of 2020. So very soothing!

Jeremy – I have finally finished watching Season 2 of The Boys. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this shock-driven series, but season two is even more of a bang. For me, it redeemed the horrific (and lazy) elements of the first season. At the end of the day, we all want to watch a Nazi get punched.

Deep Dive –

Two different flavors of spooky Superhero goodness coming your way. Jeremy is going to do a review of the dark superhero movie Brightburn, and Trish is going to talk about the latest spooky installment of Sarah Kuhn’s series, Heroine Complex.

There’s a little something for everyone this episode!

QotW: What are you doing for halloween this year? And what will your costume be?
